What’s up with Glock magazines?

Glock Factory magazinesWe just  noticed that some of our distributors have closeouts on many of the Glock Factory magazines which tells us something else is coming about.   We’ve had lots of people complain about the various Generations of Glock pistols being finicky with various gun holsters because there are slight differences with them but enough to cause holsters to not work, whether you have a Glock 19 or Glock 17.  There have been issues with some of the Fobus holsters and the Fobus E2 holsters are really the thing you need to get because there is some flexibility with their tension which accommodates different trigger guards.

Nobody buys after market magazines for Glocks unless you are using some funky watermelon killing 50rd magazine.   Reliability is going to be an issue unless you are using Glock Factory magazines and that’s really what we recommend.   Many guns are becoming more versatile with the back straps and with ambidextrous designs which makes outfitting a department that much easier.  If only someone would make an ambidextrous holster for Duty guns.  Glock really is king of the hill for Law Enforcement and I don’t see that going away anytime soon.  The Glock 21 seems to be really getting traction here in Pennsylvania among the Upper Darby Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police.

Thanks are settling down, but is the panic buying over?

Glock factory magazinesI guess it depends on whether or not you want to think about all of the things that could cause people to buy more firearms or ammunition, but now that the States that passed the new gun legislation  have pretty much done so, not many more are going to pile on.  Their are going to be Political and economic ramifications for passing some of these new gun laws and we’ll find out the results in 2yrs.   We recently heard that some companies like Remington are now restricting sales to gun shops that are price gouging on ammuntion and their are now boycotts of several big name companies for what they did in regards to AR15 sales on Magpul Pmag sales.  We see this type of panic and emotionalism after hurricanes or earthquakes and it’s widely accepting that the political opportunism that Obama has played is going to have blow back at some point.

We have noticed that there is somewhat of a slow down but much of this is because there isn’t anything to buy.  Ammunition is going to be hard to get for a long time but Glock Factory Magazines are starting to show up on our inventory and we recently got some Glock 21, Glock 26 and Glock 27 magazines in, in large quantities.   We  have not raised our prices about list price and we’re seeing positive response from our customers and developed a lot of loyalty.   The only thing that seems to be impossible to get right now are the Glock 22 coversion kits, although we do have small quantities of spare magazines in stock.

Magazines maintenance another forgotten chore

Magazine maintenance is something that is getting talked about more and more in instructors schools.   Now that using USGI magazines is becoming less and less common in Law Enforcement, the notion that gun magazines are throw aways isn’t so common anymore.  Magpul has taken a huge chunk of the Law Enforcement market and the only time it’s time to toss a Magpul P-mag is when the feed lips are worn.   There’s not reason to run them into the ground, but the life of a Pmag is a hundred times longer than a USGI rifle magazine.

Handgun magazines are also getting stronger and stronger, but there are many thing in a pistol magazine that can wear down and cause a firearm to become unreliable.  Glock magazines are pretty darn tough but even these gun magazines need maintenance from time to time.   If you put a lot of lead down range, even  your gun magazine should get cleaned out.   One thing you should be very restrictive about though is not using lubricant or grease  unless you are preventing run from forming.   A little CLP wiped on and off the spring and inner magazine is Ok, but it should be almost dry so that it does not attract dirt.
