Yes, the Glock 42 has already changed and so have the Glock Factory magazines

Glock Factory MagazinesWithout having to steal anyone imagery, I’ll just defer you to Google to see what some of the other bloggers have mentioned and that there have already been changes to the Glock 42 .380 caliber pistol.   It’s not a surprise to us because we see stuff like this all the time, if you’re the first person to buy the gun, you might end up with basically the commercial prototype and the guy that buys the same same gun a year later will have some type of extractor, recoil spring, slide stop change, hammer spring change, take down pin, trigger pin change that your gun was found be fault with.   I learned this less about 15yrs ago when a friend had a Kahr pistol that he had to send back because the trigger pins we’re falling out of them.   Well, Kahr firearms has a pretty well established name in the industry but it doesn’t mean they haven’t made engineering mistakes.   For all of the things that NASA has accomplished in existence, it’s has some  pretty catastrophic mistakes.  Things always seem like they’ll work on the drawing board but when it comes to fielding, there are too many variables that absolute testing is an impossibility.

I’ve seen too many patterns and trends go awry that the advice is to always go slow.   Don’t be one of those guys that goes out and picks up a gun at a gun show and then finds  out there aren’t any holsters for it.   Is you picked up a pile of Magpul Gen 3 PMAGS in the last year and a half, you better go back and check them in your firearms because there were some pretty big batches that are out of spec and they are out there.   You’ll usually always better to stick with Factory Magazines because they tend to get it right or improve on it rather than an aftermarket magazine that won’t know about firearm tweaks and modifications.   Since we have found out there are already changes to Glock 42 Glock Factory Magazines we’ve had to make sure we didn’t have the first run mags here because we know that somebody is going to call  us out on it because of the changes.  We always listen to our customers and learn from them because that’s just the only way you can really stay in the know.   Obviously Glock Inc. got some negative feedback and had to make changes.

Availability of Glock Factory magazines

glock factory magazinesOne of the things that I find shocking about this recent surge on firearms and accessories is the number of complaints about knock off products.  There are fake Trijicon optics out there that look like ACOGS but they aren’t and there are also Eotech imitators.   We get a lot of phone calls from customers that are asking us all the time if the Glock firearm magazines we sell are “Factory” magazines.   We are old enough to remember the 1994 assault weapons ban and the flood of after market magazines, but in this day and age, I don’t know why anyone would not stick with factory magazines for their Glocks.   Right now there is still a very big shortage on Glock magazines and we have yet to see very many of them.

At the moment the Glock 26 and Glock 27 magazines are readily available but there are still alot of backorders that need to be filled for other Glocks.   The Glock Factory Magazines for sale are the real thing and we do have an email me when “back-in-stock” option on our website that will notify you when they come in.   We have many local Police Departments that are looking for magazines for their Glock 21 and Glock 30 guns and if it’s been affecting them then  things really are tight.   There may be some of the Glock 22 magazine coming in soon so make sure you get on with the program.

Gun cleaning supplies, gun lube and Sigs and Glocks

My favorite handguns are the ones that I like to shoot the most and it’s not always what I consider to be the toughest or most reliable.  One thing people need to have a grip on with handguns is the statistics don’t lie.  Handguns really do suck at stopping threats and shot placement can’t be underrated.  Although I love shooting my 1911’s and reloading 45acp.  I do find that the weight of a 45acp does add up and I’d much rather have more physical comfort carrying than worrying about accuracy and whether my 45acp FMJ has more stopping power than a 9mm FMJ.   The Glock 21 is a great gun but to darn heavy for me to carry even if it was a duty gun.

Many, many firearm instructors will tell people that you’re better off practicing with a 9mm because it’s softer to shoot and costs less money.   I remember the days of the assault weapons ban when glock factory magazines cost close to $100 a pop but now they are mostly under $25 if you get them online.   For longer deployments or the times of year when I really don’t feel like cleaning my guns, I’m always carrying a Glock 26 or a Glock 19.   The less gun cleaning, the less lubrication you have to worry about draining off of you, really makes you think it’s time to carry a Glock.

Competition shooting and

That seems to be one of the biggest gag lines I hear coming from people in the industry.  We had a Navy Seal come in here talking about Glocks and how he had to modify his slightly because he started out as a 1911 guy and had issues with the grip angle.  Recently I purchased a Glock 17 because it’s still widely used in our local Law Enforcement community.   I have a Glock 19 because I got tired of my Sig Sauer guns rusting out on my in the Summer but it did take me awhile to find the correct grip.  Luckily I had an instructor in here that gave me some pointers.   Handguns need to modified for the shooter if the shoot wants to be proficient with it.   I watched a Bob Vogel DVD about Mastering the IDPA and he mentioned several things he did that helped make him a more accurate shot.

Bob Vogel  uses a Glock 34 in his competition shooting and he is also a Police Officer.   One of the great things about Glock firearms is many of the Glock magazines work in various Glocks of the same Caliber.   I personally don’t like Glocks but I have a lot of respect for the design and I do agree that they are tough guns that have a proven track record.   If I was deployed and had to be issued a Sidearm it would defanitely be a Glock.   I’m a big fan of the LWRC gas gun designs but having to deal with a standard AR15 or an M16 and all of that gun maintenance and then another firearm.  I don’t want another gun to clean, just give me a Glock.

Glock Magazines in stock

There are so many handguns out there being marketed towards the concealed carry crowd but one thing still remains constant, 1911 magazines and Glock magazines.   These firearms are so unique to the shooting world that they will probable never go away until laser guns are invented.  The 1911 has seen major improvements to its 100yr old design and it has and still is the king of the 45acp.   The trigger design also makes it very popular in competition shooting and the consistent trigger pull design is unique.

The spongy Glock triggers are often forgotten about when you train with your firearm long enough and the angled grip is something that also requires a shooter to adapt to.   Glock magazines are probable the most durable and reliable pistol magazines we have sold but we expect that to change in the very near future. Glock pistol magazines aren’t the flimsy GI magazines your Grandpa had in Europe that got tossed away during a battle.  Having a designated pocket for mag dumps is important now because gun magazines aren’t throw aways.

Magazines maintenance another forgotten chore

Magazine maintenance is something that is getting talked about more and more in instructors schools.   Now that using USGI magazines is becoming less and less common in Law Enforcement, the notion that gun magazines are throw aways isn’t so common anymore.  Magpul has taken a huge chunk of the Law Enforcement market and the only time it’s time to toss a Magpul P-mag is when the feed lips are worn.   There’s not reason to run them into the ground, but the life of a Pmag is a hundred times longer than a USGI rifle magazine.

Handgun magazines are also getting stronger and stronger, but there are many thing in a pistol magazine that can wear down and cause a firearm to become unreliable.  Glock magazines are pretty darn tough but even these gun magazines need maintenance from time to time.   If you put a lot of lead down range, even  your gun magazine should get cleaned out.   One thing you should be very restrictive about though is not using lubricant or grease  unless you are preventing run from forming.   A little CLP wiped on and off the spring and inner magazine is Ok, but it should be almost dry so that it does not attract dirt.
