Soft cases and inexpensive gun cases are good enough!

allen gun casesThere are plenty of products that we sell that I personally don’t use but many of our customers find them useful.   Uncle Mike’s products are good for the people that want something like that, but I have my preferences in what I buy for myself as far as tactical nylon.   I feel the higher end products are more along the lines of what I want to use.   I have several Uncle Mike’s and Bulldog assault rifle cases because at the time I was purchasing them, I was just looking for an AK47, AR15 or Mini 14 bag that I could store the magazines with the gun.  I have learned to label everything in this industry because many firearm magazine especially 223 magazines look more and more alike.   We recently heard that Magpul is making an AK47 PMAG which will make it even hard to identify some of your rifle mags and taking the wrong magazines to the range can ruin your day trip, I know I have done this.

There are Bulldog gun cases that can be had for pistols and even scoped pistols for a very inexpensive price range.   Some of the Allen gun cases are in the $30+ range and you can get a nice AR15 or Mini 14 gun case that holds your 30rd mags.  You can fit 20rds in there but they will sit at the bottom of the case.   If this is all you need to do, then that’s all you need to do.    The scabbared rifle cases are something that I see people use to transport lever action rifles or even just an iron sighted 22LR.  For handguns the pistol rung or the molded pistol cases will also get the job done and for a very low price.   It’s all about what you want to spend and what you think you’re going to get out of it.

Buying what you need and not what you don’t need for your firearms

allen gun casesThere are huge differences in the material and protection that you will get from various gun case manufacturers.  We have a showroom here in Pennsylvania where all you have to do is pick up one of the rifle cases and squeeze it and  you’ll feel better knowing your $2000 AR15 , Optics and flashlight is going to take a few clunks and still be protected.  We still get people walking in looking for items such as the Allen pistol rugs because they only need it for transporting and don’t want to drop $100 on a fancy range bag or spend $40 on a pack.  I’ve never gotten into the pistol scope thing but many people are using the Trijicon RMR optics on their guns.

If you want an easy fix for gun transport the gun socks are great for shotguns or rifles that don’t have optics on them.   I keep several of these around as well as other Allen gun cases for my Russian SKS rifles and my Remington 870.   The Russian SKS can take a few dinks to the stock because it’s already pretty roughed up an I’m not so concerned about scratches.  The Assault rifle bags are fairly inexpensive and for someone that wants to keep their magazines organized these are a great way to keep your stuff together.
