Lots of magazines coming in stock, and even the 1911 mags were hard to get!

chip mccormick 8rd magazines We just got in a shipment of the Chip McCormick power mags, even these were getting hard to get because States like New York were going to restrict magazines to 8rds.   The Chip McCormick 10rd power mags were in high demand and we watched our distributors run out of these for several weeks.  I have used these in my 1911 handguns for several years and had good experiences with them.  The one thing I did noticed about these is that they dropped free from my Springfield GI Mil-Spec guns.  There is something more natural about these metal magazines and there is also a factory warranty with them.  I’ve taken apart my 1911s from recoil springs, hammer springs and magazine disassemble.  I normally run wolff gun springs in all of my gun mags.

Keeping your guns running means proper maintenance and now I am using Slip 2000 on all of  my handguns.  These Chip McCormick 8rd magazines work like a champ and I never really had to urge to work with 7rd magazines like the WWI and WWII guns were using.   I use Slip 2000 gun grease on some of my firearms especially if I’m going to be storing them for a long time or I know I’m going to be really heating them up.  There are so many makes of 1911s yo do have to be careful you don’t create problems for yourself but Chip McCormick gun mags are very reliable and well made.

Mini 14 lover feedback on gun magazines!

promag magazinesI’ve been in the AR15 camp for several years after retiring my Mini 14 Ranch model that was probable my most used semi-auto.   I started out with Russian rifles like the SKS and then moved on to the 7.62×39 AK firearms.  I learned rifle skills with those rifles and quickly learned that my shooting abilities were better than what those rifles provided.  When the AR15 was first showing up at my gun clubs, i viewed those as the rich guy guns.   The optics that were being mounted on those guns cost more than what my new Mini 14 rifle cost.  I got good accuracy with my 1-9 twist Mini 14 with a Sightron 3-9×40 rifle scope.   Especially, if you compared it to the accuracy of 7.62×39 guns.   At longer distances like 200yd-500yds you will see that the flatter shooting 5.56 round will do a better job of getting hits.

I have retired most of my Mini 14 rifles to being hunting rifles since I have several opportunities to go on hunting trips in states that allow semi-auto guns to be used.   I have been very happy with the 20rd promag magazines that I picked up after some of the factory mini 14 and PMI magazines I had wore out.  It seems that many aftermarket magazines have improved and even though there have been some improvements to the mini 14 design, finding decent 20rd and 30rd magazines that function.   The Mini 14 is a very potent firearm if a reality check is in place and not trying to turn the gun into an assault rifle.   Considering the weight of the rifle, this might be the best balanced .223 carbine out there.

Walking in and being able to walk out with what you want!

law enforcement supplies in Pennsylvania There’s been a lot of discussion on the news about internet taxes, sales taxes and other things that are very much in the minds of companies that sell online.  Ebay and amazon have differing opinions about what should be done, and States like Delaware aren’t going to be happy about it.   Now that we have an actually store in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, many local Law Enforcement and security companies have been very happy that we actually stock inventory and that we aren’t just a drop shipping company.   Many of the gun shops in the area sell ammunition, firearms and magazines but their prices are usually higher than what the  internet companies are selling them for.   An internet sales tax will have a big impact on what things are sold for online.   Things like tactical boots, ballistic eyewear, waterproof pants, rain gear, and SWAT Team gear is something you want hold in your hands and fit it to your body.

Along with many tactical products like Magpul, VLTOR, AR15 upper receivers and magpul pmags, we stock gun parts and magazines for Glock, magazine springs and followers from Wolff gun springs.   We have an expanding showroom of law enforcement supplies in pennsylvania where our 1500 sqft showroom is expanding every year.  This year we will be bringing in products from Tactical Tailor, 5.11 tactical and more Tru-Spec and Blackahawk tactical clothing.   We expand our products based on customer feedback and our ever growing tactical apparel and gear are the best there is.

Assault bags vs. EMS bags what are the variables?

5.11 backpacks for saleThere are a great many things that can make or break a bag for a job.   Many of our customers come in here and open up backpacks or bags to see what is sewn on the inside.   Some bags have open pouches while others have ID holders, Molle pouches or various zippered or strapped compartments.   I’m not big on attaching too much Molle gear to my bags, probable the only thing I attach to my bags are the higher visibility medical pouches.   I have some smaller plaster First Aid pouches but the nylon quick detach medical pouches are a better and more professional option.  We sell an EMT bag that is just a bright orange color with the medical logo but they are just that, a bag with no medical supplies.  A good folder for scissors or bandages is probable the best thing for this setup.

The Rush messenger bags are very unique and not like my Elite Survival Systems bags or my Blackhawk bags.   The Rush 72 are a very popular 5.11 backpacks for sale in our showroom and online.    These have a unique fold out webbed attachment and many molle and compartments.   Emergency blankets and quick clot packages can go in these and even though they kind of look like military backpacks, they are extremely popular with the EMT’s that get hired in our area.   These bags are kind of bulky and if you want a smaller bag, something that just goes over your shoulder, check out some of the smaller Rush 24 bags.

Pmags coming back in stock

magpul pmagsWe have factory Glock magazines, Beretta Magazines, Sig Sauer magazines,Kahr magazines and more listed here.  Chip McCormick magazines, Speed loaders for your j-frame for fast and easy reloading, range mags and spare magazines for your CCW and target shooting purposes.   We strongly recommend that any serious shooter or CCW holder have atleast 3 magazines for each firearm that they own, and we believe it’s a good idea to have a gun holster for every handgun you own.   Make sure you rotate your gun magazines when you are using them on the range and once you match up the right ammunition with the right magazines that you have, consider buying other gun magazines as range mags to keep your primary concealed carry firearm at it’s optimum reliability.   Serious should keep spare gun springs for their guns and we highly recommend Wolff gun springs.

Butler Creek gun magazines work very well with the Ruger 10/22 which is one of our favorite 22lr rifles.  It’s been a toss up for us to recommend our vest 1911 magazines because most of our customers tell us we have the best prices on magpul pmags and gun magazines  like Chip McCormick and Wilson Combat Magazines are the most reliable and friendly to the 1911 family.  Take a look at the 1911 mags being used in the State and National IDPA competitions and you’ll see for yourself. New Factory Glock magazines are less expensive than most gun mags, and Glock factory magazines are as rock solid and durable as the firearm.   Magpul Pmags have given new life and reliability to any AR15 Carbine, M4 or A2, direct impingement or piston driven.   Stock up on Kahr magazines we have some of the best prices and join our newsletter for discounts and promos. Blackhawk Drop Leg holsters easier to deploy

Blackhawk Serpa HolstersBlackhawk serpa holstersThe Blackhawk Serpa holsters became our most popular level II holster due to its easy use and reliability.   There are plenty of reasons to not use thumb breaks and locking mechanisms on holsters, but for those carrying openly or using a sidearm as a secondary weapon, having a easy to release locking holster is comforting.  For hard use and physical work, holster, gear and magazines can come loose.   The Blackhawk magazine holders for double stack and single stack magazines is probable the best made magazine for concealed carry because there are no flaps or covers over them, but they still retain the gun magazine with tension.   The design of the Blackhawk holsters works right with your basic firearm safety procedures and will easily be released by the trigger finger while it is in the safe position away from the trigger when be retrieved.  The Blackhawk tactical leg holsters are also big sellers for those carrying full size autos like the Beretta 92 or Glock 17.

Angles make a big difference in the easy in which you can deploy your firearm.  If you look at some of the Desantis leather holsters there are numerous belt holsters that have different angles, the Blackhawk Serpa holsters that are drop leg holsters are at a lower angle and in my personal opinion less likely to have an operator slide their finger off the holster release button that on the waist.  There are always body types and situations where this can cause an issue but for me I like the drop leg holsters more than the belt.  There are some attachment devices that you can use to make your Serpa holster a molle compatible device and we are stocking more and more of these adaptives.

Looking for binoculars?

binoculars In the advent of extremely powerful and reliable combat rifle scopes and optics, many people have erroneously moved away from thinking they need binoculars.  All I have to tell you is go look at some of our troops serving in sniper teams and you’ll see that each of them is using a pair of binoculars.  Sure there are some of you that are bird watchers and stargazing astronomers, but Tasco binoculars, Konus binoculars, Leupold binoculars, and Bushnell binoculars still make binoculars that are very practical to the target shooter or hunter amongst us.

The need for using binoculars that have a power of more than 10x is not recommended due to the fact that it is harder to see magnified optics in a stable manor when magnified at high powers.   Using binoculars will give you a much wider FOV or field of view that will help you notice things you won’t normal notice if you are just staring through a rifle scope.  Binoculars will help identify movement in bushes and trees and will help you watch bullet vapor trails to identify where a bullet is going for your shooting partner.  Tasco and Bushnell binoculars will give you a good starting point without burning a hole in your pocket.

You carry a firearm and have to think about Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer apparel, here’s some suggestions

tactical apparel It looks like Woolrich Elite Series Tactical is no more and the clothing has been drying up for some time now.   They never seemed to be able to move on and market their products after Backyard outfitter ceased marketing their products.    Even after all of these years of selling things that competed in the market against the 5.11 products, we still have customers coming in and bashing the 5.11 product line as having sub-par quality control.  It’s one reason why we don’t stock their clothing in large quantities.   Much of the fabric shrinks or falls apart and we don’t want to deal with the customer complaints for tactical pants, tactical shirts, tactical vests or jackets since this happens so much.   They are truely a monster of a company but there are better quality products out there for less money.

Finding shirts that fit you is something you are going to have to try out for yourself, the Blackhawk and Tru-Spec product lines have very good quality control, but sizing and fit are going to be different.  Everyone asks us how the cut is and every shirt and even some styles are cut differently.   TruSpec tactical apparel has uniform and tactical shirts as well as concealed carry shirts and the fabric, lightweight and ultralightweight tactical shirts are very different.  The gunny tactical line gives a different angle to the product line and the Tru-Spec 24/7 Series clothing and the Tru-Spec Simple Tactical clothing is going to really cut into Blackhawk and 5.11 tactical market just based on quality control and price points.

The differences between all of those gun cleaning supplies?

gun cleaning suppliesI’ve heard of Frog lube, Militech but haven’t gotten my hands on it yet.   We normally don’t like to bring in too many gun cleaning products because many of them just confuse our customers and create more problems for us from an inventory management.   I have a bunch of left over gun cleaning supplies from various gun cleaning kits i’ve owned and usually kept the best parts of them.  I started out, like many, with a Hoppes gun cleaning kit.  Usually a bores sovent, gun oil, and 22 caliber cleaning patches.  The plastic case for the 3 piece cleaning rods began to not snap closed and I started losing pieces of the kit one by one.  After a few years I had some mistakes made and bent the cleaning rod, I learned the hard way about why a one piece cleaning system was the way to go.

When it comes to gun cleaning stuff, I have pretty much settled on M-Pro7 for gun cleaning and Slip 2000 for gun lubrication.  I have good experiences with the M-Pro 7 gun oil but something about Slip 2000 gun cleaning supplies makes me like the brand and the scientific breakthroughs that clean a firearm without all of the toxic materials.  It’s bad enough you have to deal with lead and washing your hands from gun powder, but having a green cleaning product that actually holds onto a firearm when in use, and when not in use is a step  up.   Some of the Remington gun oils i’ve used in the past just lubricated parts and I still had rust issues, not with Slip 2000 products.
