5.11 tactical bags and accessory pouches

It seems that everyone and their dog has making nylon gear but there is a very big difference  in the quality.   We’ve sold a ton of clothing over the years and it often amazes me about the customers that have pointed out product defects.   There have been stitching issues with just about every clothing manufacturer and sometimes missing buttons.  Nobody is perfect but there are definitely customer service issues and consistency differences.  5.11 tactical is King of the tactical accessories and clothing, but there are several smaller companies that do things better and have their own niche.

As an internet based business we don’t stock everything in our Pennsylvania location and we ship from multiple locations.   When it comes to stocking gun cases and rifle cases  we have chosen to stock the Elite Survival Systems product line because it just seems more interesting.  Don’t get me wrong the 5.11 gun cases we sell are very nice and to each his own when it comes to choosing a gun bag.   The 5.11 rush messenger bag is a very popular gun bag and it might just be the right size for what you need.

You learned how to make your bed, now pack your bags right!

If you have not fried your brain on drugs, you should remember when your parents taught you how to make your bed and put the laundry away.   There are always stories about guns and gear being mismatched or people bringing the wrong thing to the range.   I for one have been a strong advocate for being range bags that are for individual firearms.  I like to leave sight in tools for an AR15 and leave unloaded magpul pmags in the outside of the bag just so I know I have brought the right ones.   It can royally suck when you bring a gun to the range and find out you have the wrong magazines or the wrong sight in tool.

When it comes to bringing handguns or other equipment a good range bag is the key to avoiding these types of things.  The range bags we seem to be moving the most right now are the Elite Survival bags which come in 3 different sizes.   I think most people are probable better off with the medium sized range bags because it’s better to start off with something a little bigger than what you think you might need.  Larger bags are for people that really know what they want but be careful you stow your gear consistently and don’t loose your stuff in the bag, it does happen.

Sleeping bags hunting trips and survival

People seem to forget about the weather and how variations in temperature can mean the end of life.  Anyone that has taken an Astronomy course or studied Planetary bodies, especially the planets and moons in our solar system will understand.   The extreme hot and cold temperatures on Mars because it does not have an atmosphere, means that you will freeze at night and burn during the day.   There are some places even on Earth where this can happen to you.   Bringing a cold weather sleeping bag with you on a desert trip.

One of our new products from Elite Survival Systems even though they don’t make them are the Recon Sleeping bags.   I’d say at first glance, the Recon sleeping bags are so small that, that alone is a reason why they are useful.  Being able to stow something with life saving protection in varying degrees of weather makes them very practical and worth the investment.   I’m not sure about the long term durability of these, but I would say considering the number of people that have purchased them from us and the lack of complaints, they were worth it.

The Sale in underway for Tru Spec tactical pants

There have been some big changes in recent months over the industry and one thing we’re happy to see is a line of tactical clothing that didn’t get hit by any steep price increases.   The Tru Spec tactical pants are very good tactical pant in comparison to the 5.11 tactical clothing line.   We have been getting a lot of people getting off the 5.11 tactical clothing line and moving on to other things.  5.11 makes a lot of nice stuff, but they lost a very big customer base that started out wearing their product line over 10 years ago.   Tru Spec is probable the along with Propper the only real competition.

I only wear pants that fit me right but sometimes I do switch up the brands depending on what I’m wearing.   I do like the Woolrich Elite chino pants but the Tru Spec tactical pants that we have on sale for the Tru Spec 1,2,3 sale are a great product for under $40 and as low as $29.95.   The material is made of a 65/35 Polycotton ripstop material and an easy sell for guys or gals wearing 5.11 tactical pants that want consistent sizing and similar materials.  Get on board with the Tru Spec 24/7 series tactical pants before May 31st.

Diversifying our product line with cool stuff

I didn’t think about it too much when I thought of the subject title for this blog post after doing some playing around with the Recon Sleeping bags.   We sell a ton of clothing and tactical apparel to military contractors and security forces but there are some products that they have asked for that we did not carry.   Some of the outdoors type of products line the rain gear and camping type things are products we may bring in stock in the near future but right now we gotta sell what people are asking for now.   The vast majority of our next day air shipping orders are for military customers that have been quickly deployed and usually less than 3 days notice.

Special Forces are being used more and more around the world and that’s not going to stop anytime soon.  We’ve add the Recon Sleeping bags to our product line to fill in the holes in our inventory that customers are looking for.   Sleeping bags have come a long way and like every good product, it usually needs to be compact and lightweight.  You may want to even consider leaving something like  this in a car or vehicle for emergency or use them for camping.  The Recon 2 sleeping bag is pretty much considered to be the Jungle Sleeping bag while the Recon 5 is your coldest weather.  I saw a recent critical review of the Recon 4 online and stated that it wasn’t good for cold weather but somebody forget to mention there is a Recon 5, oops.

Elite Survival Patrol bags in stock

We got in some of the Elite Survival Systems Patrol bags because we had a recent hiring of local Police and several of them were looking for products and gear that they could use on their new jobs.  Being located where we are, there are a lot of demands for quick pickups of gear whenever it’s needed and that is something we here more and more.  Many retail shops don’t like to stock items because they don’t want the overhead and just want to make the sales when they can.  Well, you know that is one reason why online purchases have gone up because it’s just as easy to go home log on to your computer and have an item shipped to your home in a couple days.

The Elite Survival Patrol Bag is something that a Law Enforcement officer is going to want to have with him to move his stuff back and forth.  The re-enforced liner/ divider for sturdiness.  These Elite Survival bags are very well thought out and have been modified for specific missions that Law Enforcement might have.  These are not range bags for a gun guy that just needs pocket dividers for handguns and shooting accessories, these are designed for holding flashlight and citation books.

New Product line coming in soon

We just got in some more of the Elite Survival tactical messenger bags and we’ve very happy with what we are seeing.  Just holding up the quality of the Made in USA product line compared to the 5.11 and Bulldog nylon cases gives you some contrast.  Blackhawk and Bulldog make some nice stuff for the money, but if you want something to show off and brag about, check out the Elite Survival Systems product line.   I am going to have to admit that I have been an Elite Survival Systems fan for almost a decade and I found out about them while shopping for a gun case for my DSA FAL.

The Tactical Messenger bag is a bit larger than what I was expecting but the waterproof compartment is about the size I would think someone would want.   We’ve sold a few to guys running laptops and solar power systems and the Elite Survival Systems bags we are selling worked well for them. The Elite Survival Tactical Messenger bag is for law enforcement and military applications in the modern age.  Being able to stow tactical gear especially electronics and work in adverse environments is a hard thing to do.  If you are in the area stop by our Pennsylvania location and check out the gear yourself.

New Product line and something cool to write about

When we first starting thing about what types of holster to bring, it kind of slipped my mind that not all gun holsters were leather or kydex.  I have a pile of holsters sitting in my closet that I used for training and forgot about how many stages of learning I was in.   To this day my favorite shoulder holsters were all nylon and I was happy to hear that Elite Survival has brought back the vertical should holsters that have been gone for a few years.   I won’t get into the reasons why vertical shoulder holsters have been hard to find, but these holsters are very inexpensive and also very versatile.

Many of the Woolrich Elite CCW shirts that we sell actually have applications that would allow shoulder holsters to work with them, so keep that in mind if you want a match between CCW shirts and shoulder holsters.  Elite Survival rifle cases  and Elite Survival gun bags are mostly made in the United States which is a huge selling point for us and their shooting bags and EMS have been a huge hit locally.

22LR caliber conversions for handguns and rifles

I’ve dabbled with caliber conversion kits only  once and that was a very long time ago.  For some reason I have never been a big fan of the 22LR semi-auto.   I really have a low tolerance for firearms that do not function reliable and the whole “it’s cheap to shoot” thing doesn’t work for me if I have to clear malfunction every 50rds or so.  In my opinion there are safety issues if a gun constantly jams.  I don’t like having 22LR bullets laying around that have light strikes on them and I’ve had several bad experiences with both handgun and rifles not working well.   Sure there are variations in bullet manufacturers and some types of ammo will function better than others, but what a pain in the ass.

I guess ever since ammunition shot up in price a few years ago and the threats of a Political chance and a bad economy drop up the costs, many people have been spending $140-$300 on 22 caliber conversion kits for AR15 and Handguns.   We sell a lot of Glock caliber conversion kits from Advantage Arms sell like hot cakes.   There can be plenty of good quality training with these caliber conversion kits but I do suggest people do research and pay attention to gun cleaning and the types of ammunition.   If you have had good experiences with caliber conversion kits, please let us know and give us some feedback.

To each his own combat optics

I have my preferences and I tend to be very traditional when it comes to rifle scopes.   I want thin black lines and I don’t like it when a reticle obscures the target.   Nothing would bother me more than to have a combat optic that covered a target 300yds out that was firing back  at me.  There are a lot of short sighted operators in the weekend warrior crowd that just don’t cut it when they show up at competition shoots.   I see so many people that just lack the proper setup or basic knowledge to engage targets at 300yds +.   Hold overs are real easy when you know what your ammo is doing and you can see your target.

I realize that having an illuminated high visibility reticle means fast target engagements in close quarters fighting, but so does knowing your opic.   The Trijicon TA01NSN is my favorite, not just because of the backup iron sights, but because the reticle is a very traditional skinny line targeting system, I like it.   Those lines are are setup for 62gr SCBT and are very good for giving you 400-600yd shots.   Not all combat shooting is about precision, precision shooting can me slow shooting and that can mean taking on return fire because you aren’t pinning  your target down.
